CH 72: Wake Up

Fenris' eye shot open as he heard a loud crash coming from a nearby room. He whispered a quick shush as he pushed himself out of bed to see what was happening. A loud crash echoed through the halls as Fenris walked through the door.

The eerie glow coming from the spare room Zevran and Merlissia used was clue enough for where the commotion was coming from. Quickly he hurried over to the room, looking in to see Zevran pushing Merlissia behind him protectively.

"I see, you finally decided to let the monster you harbor out," Zevran said as he tried to clear a path for him to get to Anders.

"Demon? I am no demon!" Justice shouted from the side of the wall that Fenris couldn't see.

What is going on? Fenris wondered as he watched Zevran try to approach his target only to be flung back when Justice would send a spell towards Merlissia. For all his thoughts of what is just, the demon sure does fight dirty Fenris thought as he shoved the door open, distracting everyone in the room.

"What is going on here?" Fenris asked as he made his way between Justice and Zevran.

"This doesn't concern you" The spirit roared.

"Ahh… he seems to be upset that I corrected him… or maybe it was the punch to the face he didn't approve of," Zevran jested as he pushed himself back up.

"Doesn't look like you're delivering any punches now," Fenris said quietly.

"Ah.. yes… Seems to be quite the challenge since the coward attacks Merlissia the moment I step away from her," Zevran explained bitterly, practically spitting the word coward.

"So I saw… why did you hit him in the first place?" Fenris asked more curious than anything else.

"Ah, he was trying to dote upon one he knew was claimed…" Zevran said, "I don't know about you, but I am not the sharing type… I only assumed you to be the same," he finished as he wrapped himself around Merlissia and throwing himself to the floor in order to dodge Justice's spell.

"Oh, quanto amo essere tra le gambe il mio amore, ma non é questo il momento," Zevran said with a laugh as he turned to glare at Justice. "Stay down," he whispered to Merlissia as he pushed himself up and readied to charged Justice.

"Enough!" Hawke shouted as she walked into the room, watching as Zevran halted his movement.  "What the hell? I just wanted to stay how I was until you all had to make a fuss.. what the hell is this about?" Hawke asked, tapping her foot impatiently.

"Well?" she asked as she looked over the room. Tables were overturned, glass broken everywhere. Anders… or Justice was standing at one end of the room and Fenris, Zevran and Merlissa  were on the other.

"He seems to encourage your obsession with this monster," Justice started as he motioned towards Fenris. "He is nothing but a common beast and would see all of your kind locked away," the spirit finished.

"Then he had the audacity to harm Anders," Justice started.

"Because he was forcing himself on me…" Hawke said calmly, "And I suspect you, Justice, encouraged it," she finished with a raised brow.

Without any warning, Justice cast a spell engulfing Merlissia in his power. With all the grace of an assassin Zevran had spun around forcing Merlissia out of the way, groaning as the pain engulfed him.

"Enough!" Hawke shouted casting a barrier around Zevran at the same time as she focused a force spell on Justice, bringing the spirit down to its knees. "Do it… Attack me… I dare you," Hawke said as she walked in front of Justice.

"I have had enough of you… Poisoning Anders' mind, interfering with our lives," Hawke said darkly as her lyrium began to glow.

"What you think shoving your fist into my chest will kill me? Justice asked smugly.

"No," she said plainly as her markings began to bleed as the pale white began to radiate around her. "I wasn't planning on doing that," she added coolly. Quickly she leaned down and strained to lift Justice off the ground.

The others watched in horror as they felt her magic fill the room. They watched as the floor around her cracked as she moved pinning Justice to the wall with a force that sent a cool gust of air through the room. "Get out Justice…" she muttered as her magic flowed to her hand.

They watched as an eerie glow came from Hawke's skin as she concentrated as Justice began to scream. Slowly the blue cracks began to recede into Anders' skin as she forced Justice.

Once Justice's lines were gone and it was clear Anders was back, she made sure to glare at him with disgust. Easily she threw him off to the side towards the door. "Get out," she whispered and watched as he scrambled to his feet and run.

"Are you two okay?" Hawke asked as her lyrium faded out. "Sorry about that," Hawke said as she tried to wipe the blood that tickled her neck. "I'm making it worse aren't I?" she asked with a laugh.

"What causes that Hawke?" Merlissia asked curiously as she looked over the blood lining Hawke's cheeks and arms.

"Ah… the last bit of control Danarius has over me… one that I can't break," Hawke said with a sigh. "It's not blood magic as one might think since… well I'm bleeding…," she shrugged as she glancing to Fenris to see his typical unreadable expression. "It's to prevent me from using the lyrium… Any other mage can to use it, just not me. I can use my magic just fine, but if I try to use the lyrium it bleeds… I suppose it's like payment for it's use," Hawke explained calmly.

"Did I need it right now? Probably not…" Hawke admitted as she shrugged. "But it does take a lot of energy to force Justice back," she explained, "But now I need a bath," she complained as she turned to walk out.

"Zevran, do you need healing?" Hawke asked as she paused at the door to see him shake his head in refusal. "You two can move to Aleksia's room until this one is repaired," she offered before she headed for her bath.

"You're such a fool Zevran," Merlissia said quietly.

"Che cosa? É un onore per proteggere la donna che desidero," he whispered in response. "Ah… women," Zevran laughed as he rubbed his arm. "Though… I'm not sure who I fear more, my dear warden or your champion," he laughed and feigned pain as Merlissia swatted his arm.

"Ah, sorry to have disturbed you my friend, you did appear to be quite at home," Zevran said with a soft smile.

"I suspect it wasn't your idea… It couldn't be helped," Fenris offered quietly before he realized what Zevran said. "you did appear to be quite at home" it did feel… like I was home he thought as he looked over the room. Wait.. how did he know?

"I brought Aleksia in," Zevran offered as if on cue. "Come, help me clean some of this mess," Zevran said quietly as they all went to work cleaning the room from the little skirmish.

It didn't take long to drag out the broken tables, the damaged dresser while Merlissia started moving their things into Aleksia's room. Quietly the two elves worked to straighten the room, looking over the damage Rem had made.

"Collateral damage huh?" Hawke asked from the door as she rubbed a towel through her hair. "Sorry about that," She said softly as she looked down to see what messages she had. Slowly she frowned as she looked over the notes finding nothing of real interest.

"Hey Fenris? Do you mind staying with Aleksia for a while?" Rem asked quietly as she leaned up against the door. "I have a few errands that I need to run."

"Fine," he agreed as set down the broken dresser.

"Good, it shouldn't be too long," Rem reassured him as she turned to head out.
